The Belgian professional racing driver was born in Kortrijk, Belgium on March 26th 1992 (31). Stoffel Vandoorne, also known as Stoffel first stepped into racing in 2010, Stoffel moved into single-seater racing, joining the F4 Eurocup 1.6 Series. He went on to win the series at his first attempt, finishing the season with six wins and a further three podiums.

In February 2013 Stoffel joined Mclaren Young Driver Programme, under the supervision of his then manager Richard Goddard, working closely with team sports director Sam Michael and head of communications Matt Bishop, to whom Stoffel had been introduced in 2011 by Alex Wurz. In January 2014, he was announced as the third driver for McLaren F1 to also take up driving duties in the GP2 Series for the ART Grand Prix.

On 3 September 2016, approaching of the Italian Grand Prix, it was announced that Jenson Button would not race in 2017, and that Stoffel would replace him as partner of Alonso for the 2017 season. At the end of the 2018 season, Stoffel Vandoorne left Formula One and joined the championship Formula E with HWA Racelab.
